Triumph Inspiration Award Malaysia National Finals ’08

A week ago, I received an invitation from Triumph to attend the Triumph Inspiration Award held at Bintang Circle, Pavilion in KL yesterday evening (21st May). Loads of local celebrities and loads of photographers, including some that has no respect for the Official Photographers and Event Organizers (is it because they felt since they are the oldest there, they get the Old People Privilege?). And I mean if you were asked nicely by the Event Organizers to get off the Official Photog’s platform, definitely you will do so right? Well, I was told that these two ‘veterans’ felt that they don’t have to conform to any rules set by the organizers and insist they are to stand on the platform.

Anyway, I’m not here to write about that, it’s not my problems anyway even though the organizers came and bitch to me. I’m there as a guest and I’m definitely there to enjoy myself with the show, the food and the cam-whoring with all my buddies at the venue.

Just a brief intro on the Award, it was initiated in year 2008 challenging young talented designers all over the world in 31 other countries, fromt Tokyo to Munich, from Brisbane to Sao Paulo, and from Antwerp to London to bring out their very own creativity and design for garments most personal to us – LINGERIE!

The Award is divided into two stages: a national final (that i attended) and an International Finals which will be held in Beijing sometime in July 2008. Winning the national final will automatically qualify the student for the international final, where their inspirational creation will be presented to the international media and judged by a jury of internationally renowned experts from the fields of fashion, design and media.

The Malaysia National winner will also get the honour of having Malaysia’s very own Amber Chia to model his/her creation at the international Finals. Awesome right? The judges that was there last night are Bill Keith, Carven Ong, Khoon Hooi, Heidrun Kunzer and Seema Viswanathan. To tell you the truth, I’ve no idea who won cause after the show was over and while the scores were tabulated, I went off to do what we normal impatient people do, mingle around, cam-whore and basically try to occupy our time, so much so that we totally missed the announcement for the winner. Amber Chia even ran all the way back to the stage when they made the announcement cause well, like I said, we were busy cam-whoring… LOL
