Some time back, when I was doing a gig in Jakarta, our client was gracious enough to bring us to their hotel chain for dinner. First up, I must say that haven’t been to Jakarta for so long and to finally step into the place after a good 20 years, many has changed yet not changed, the cars are much more updated than Malaysia BUT Traffic Wise, it’s still as mad as the first time I came to Jakarta!

The Hotel we went to is known as ALiLa hotel, a hotel chain that in Jakarta itself, have 2 hotels along with a few others in places like Bali and so on. Quite impressive in terms of the sight of it. The restaurant we ate at is known as Buzz. Beautiful layout and instead of going for the buffet, we go for the order via the menu. Since each of us have our own preference.

First off, I went for the Table Mountain 2010 Cabernet Souvignon, slightly dry Red which I felt goes well with the Steak I ordered.

This followed by the Smoked Salmon Salad, I was going for the Smoked Salmon but it came with Mediterranean salads and lemon balsamic reduction. The acidity of the reduction isn’t too strong and the greens are quite fresh. The combination was just heavenly, especially after days of eating just Nasi Padang.

The main highlight for me, it’s definitely the Australian Beef Tenderloin that was grileld and served with wasabi potato mash, tomato chutney and mushroom cream sauce. I gobbled up the meat within seconds and potato mash was quite smooth and the taste of wasabi isn’t too overpowering. Definitely made me asked for more and even the boss of the place regretted didn’t order it after seeing how I was truly enjoying the meat.
And as they are a client of mine, definitely a place I’d go back to whenever I am in Jakarta, unless the engagement I get is for another hotel chain. The price of the hotel room is quite reasonable too so definitely worth the checking out if I’m there either for work or for play.
