Thai Food @ Bukit Genting Hill, Penang
Continuation from my long list of posts regarding my trip to Penang, this one is about this little place known as Bukit Genting Hill. Awesome name right? A Place with two Hill in it’s name. Getting there requires a bit of a drive towards Balik Pulau towards the south west part of the island, in term of address, there’s not really one proper one so scroll down this post to get the GPS Coordinate that I’ve captured when I was there.

If you ask me, the journey was worth it as the scenery from the restaurant was beautiful. We got ourselves there around 5.30pm after a long day of touring around the Penang Island. Was told that the food was worth the drive there but I am not too sure how true is that cause it doesn’t taste all that great to me. Maybe it’s the landscape that help build the rating up. (more…)

Amazing Thai Food Promo @ Putrajaya Shangri-La
On the 20th May, I stepped into Putrajaya Shangri-La and had a shock of my life as I was greeted not by 1 or 2 officers from the hotel but 4! I felt like a VIP walking into there and was promptly ushered to the registration counter to get myself registered. I later found out that I got into the hotel at the same time as the Thai Ambassador and they gave me the same treatment as they gave to him.

The invited guests at the venue was then served with a glass of Takhrai as the welcome drink, very refreshing drink blended from Lemongrass, Honey, Lime Juice and Soda. The event kicked off with speeches from the General Manager of Putrajaya Shangri-La, Mr. C. V. Healy and His Excellency Piyawat Niyomrerks.

You can tell how hungry the guests was when straight after the G.M. and the Thai Ambassador officiate the event, lines after lines of hungry guests appeared at all the buffet station. As for myself, I helped myself to first, the Peek Gai Thod – Deep Fried Chicken Wing. I guess the whole process of officiating the event was a tad too long until it grew cold. Didn’t like it at all as the meat was tough to bite into.

The next was this nice spoonful of Baby Octopus, it was fresh yet the preparation was quite similar to the way we would have it in a typical Japanese Restaurant. I picked it up cause it looked cute and it looked like it was saying “Please don’t eat me!”.

Phad Phak Ruam or better known as Stir Fried Vegetables with Oyster Sauce, it’s quite a typical dish that you can get everywhere but it’s very different in every restaurants too. At Shangri-La, the preparation was just perfect as the vegetables used was fresh and cooked to the right texture.

Ending the trip there, I helped myself to a bowlful of Ice Kacang topped with Chocolate Ice Cream. It’s not exactly Thai style as I get to pick and choose what I want to put into the bowl but it’s still quite nice nevertheless.

If you are looking for a place to head to for a nice weekend lunch or dinner, take a trip down to Putrajaya Shangri-La and try out their Amazing Thai Food Promotion. You’ll also be entertained with Cultural dance from Thailand. You can see the food that’s on the buffet line here.
