of Grinds, Airs and crashes – Portraits of a Skater

Here’s some shots I did recently at the Kampung Batu Skate Park with Coollen. My idea for this collection is to shoot a series of Portrait but in a different manner, instead of having a beautiful girl posing for me in front of the camera, I want people in action, doing what they love to do best, be it doing some martial art moves or even going down a flight of stairs with their roller blades.

Aim is to look out for more individuals like what I mentioned above and capture them on print or in this case, digital media. The action shots after the Jump. What do you think? (more…)

DJ Coollen Grind Video

Aside from snapping photos at the Skate Park, I also managed to grab a short video of him Grinding down some rails. Ain’t the best editing in the world as I’m still not used to shooting video with a dSLR as I’m more used to the P1s. Blaming it on my work in the broadcasting industry where we are so used to lugging around a big video camera on our shoulders instead of using a smaller dSLR.

Grabbing some Japan Air

Here’s a shot of Coollen Ong getting some Japan Air. I’ve been looking at doing some ‘portraits’ in the form of action shots, like skaters doing tricks, dancers doing a dance movement or a fighter doing some kicks or punch. So if you’re someone who fit the bill, do get in touch with me.
