Just the Waterfall at Lubuk Kawah

Just want to share some images of the waterfall at Lubuk Kawah I shot last week. Located just outside of Tanjung Malim town and a good 1 hour ride by 4×4 into the jungle (if the terrain permits, on the trip in, it took us 4hours as the previous night’s rain made the soil into the jungle quite tough to navigate through.

It took us about an hour to get out though as the downward ride was just a matter of using gravity and momentum of our vehicles to guide us through. Anyway, the following are just some shots of the waterfall. Something different from all the event photos that I’ve been taking. (more…)

Kota Darul Ehsan Gateway Arch

As a Petaling Jaya boy, this is the 1 landmark that I’ve always seen whenever my dad drive us to town via the Federal Highway, this is the Kota Darul Ehsan Gateway Arch, to some of us, we know it as the Golden Arches ala McDonald’s and even until today, it’s the best landmark for any of us from PJ to use to guide non-PJ people into PJ. I do hope that this landmark will still be around even for my great grandchildren to see.

This landmarks is the main landmark of the Federal Highway, the biggest arch in Malaysia located in Petaling Jaya. It was built on the orders of the former Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah to commemorate the cession of Kuala Lumpur to the federal government on 1 February 1974. Created 2 years before I was born and even until today, it still stand strong between the KWSP building and the University Hospital (UMMC).

The Sultan of Selangor Cup: Singapore vs Selangor

If you’ve been following local football since the good old days when Singapore was still part of the M League and Malaysia Cup series, you’d know how strong the rivalry between Singapore and Selangor is. Each game held at the various stadiums are constantly packed with people.

These days, the only time we see these two teams battle it out is in the Sultan of Selangor Cup games held once a year between the two clubs. 2008 see the Cup going back to Selangor and this year, the Singapore team was quite dominant and the cup goes to Singapore. For Selangor fans, we see it as allowing the Singapore team the thrill of holding it for a year before we take it back. :p (more…)

My View on Internet Filtration by M’sia’s Government

Posted By Michael Yip / August, 7, 2009 / 1 comments

I must say that the recent bashing our dear YB Rais Yatim is getting from the Internet community is surely giving his old body a few bruises here and there. If you’ve no idea what I’m talking about, I’m talking about the Internet filtration that the Government is mulling over. Yes, it’s similar to China’s abandoned “Green Dam” project, but then, we also have to look at it in the bigger picture.

Am I siding his decision? I would say no, what for? You can’t get into your favorite porn sites? Go through one of those proxy sites you could access to (I’ll post several links at the bottom of this post for you to use). You can’t access your favorite anti-establishment websites like RPK’s Malaysia-Today site/blog/portal because it’s bashing the government left right and center? Go ahead, use the proxy servers. After all, the government forgot that they even pen down the thing about No Censorship to the Internet, so why not, we as Internet users also go about working around the censorship? (more…)
