Pan Mee @ Super Kitchen

Friday morning, received a message from Yat inviting me to join him and his gang for lunch at Super Kitchen, and as I’ve not been there before (I always go to Kin Kin across the road), I decide to go ahead and head down there.

After a couple of ding dong messages over Innit’s Chat Box and found out that KY had to travel back to his home in PJ, I decide to meet up with him to travel down to Chow Kit to meet up with Yat and his gang (start to sound like a big time Gangster eh?).

Mamma Mia! The Movie

This is one of the upcoming movie that I’m lookin forward to, ain’t because it’s a romantic comedy but because of the songs by ABBA.

Yeah I know, I’m from the time where ABBA music was still a huge hit. All the way until like the early 90s in a way.

Before it was turned into a movie, it’s the blockbuster stage musical seen by more than 30 million people in 170 cities and eight different languages. I’m a big theater person so definitely would love to see how they would turn a musical like this into a movie. I’ve been dissappointed by some musical turned movies before this so now, let’s see this one and see how it works out.

OK, the truth is, this is a contest by Nuffnang to watch the movie. So do I get the two tickets?

Dinner with the Nuffies

It’s just one of those days where I was lazy to cook and there’s no food testing to attend, so what do we do on such a day? Check with people we know and see who want to go for grab some dinner. Right?

i asked for “LOU FU!” (Tiger) and they gave me this instead. :(

I did just that last night after I came back from a long meeting feeling hungry and found no food at home. Got myself seated in front of the TV and went about online asking who’d like to go for a quick bite.

The Nuffnang Counter-Strike Team stocking up before their big training

Timothy of Nuffnang heard my hunger cry and invited me to join him and the other Nuffies for dinner and that’s how I landed myself at Restaurant Long Fong in Taman Paramount. It’s also a sort of a dinner to welcome the new staff that joined Nuffnang, Miss Pinky…. (wonder if she’d post juicy gossips from the Nuffnang office on her blog…)

So is Pinky the cheerleader for the Nuffnang Team?

Anyway, Yee Hou and Nick arrived first and we placed the order with the waitress before the rest of the people showed up. What We had for dinner includes…. a Roast duck, 2 type of noodles, 1 vegetable and 1 Guinness Pork Ribs. Where’s the freaking photos of the food? I wasn’t happy with the photos that I took so ain’t going to post any up. Anyway, thanks guys for letting me join you all for dinner. For all you people who’s participating in the CS competition… watch out for these guys…. they are good… Just need to get their teamwork brushed up and “FIRE IN THE HOLE!”

Journey To The Center of the Earth 3D

Movie Review with a bunch of Nuffnangers (Robb and Nick from Nuffnang, StrippedSteph, Minli and Frankie) for the movie Journey To The Center of the Earth 3D.

The movie’s about a science professor whose radical theories have completely tarnished his reputation. While backpacking across Iceland with his nephew Sean, the two explorers find a cave that leads them deep down into the bowels of the planet. And so they go on a quest to find out what has happened to the scientist’s missing brother, a scientist, his nephew and their mountain guide discovers a fantastic and dangerous lost world in the center of the earth. There they discover a bizarre landscape filled with terrifying creatures.

The movie is worth the wait and with the 3D experience, it brought a whole new movie experience to the audience. Go watch it! At some point, you’d want to reach out your own hands and see if you’d be able to catch any of the birds or the falling rocks as you fall together with the stars. That’s how well they create the 3D experience.

How we look with the 3D Specs

We were told this is the first digital movie to be fully shot in 3D and the experience is just incredible! Midvalley’s GSC is the only cinema as far as GSC is concern to provide the audience with the 3D experience, the other cinemas will feature the movie in the the normal 2D format but nevertheless, it’ll still be nice. If you want to experience the 3D features, then you should check out the Hall 4 of Midvalley’s GSC. At RM17 per ticket, it’s still worth the money paid.

Top: Digital Projector | Bottom: Conventional Film Projector

We can’t take home the 3D specs though or it’ll be a RM200 fine. I wonder if the old paper version we get at the normal 3D cinemas works with this movie or not. After all, it’s still 3D right? Shall give it a try next time round.

The Dolby 3D Specs

After the movie, we were taken on a tour to the projector room to show us how the whole system works and looking at it, the conventional film projector’s way bigger and more complex looking compared to the digital projector. And with everything stored on HDD, it also became a big space saver too!

The movie’s stored here!

If you’ve always been wondering how the projector room of a cinema looks like, well, this is how it looks. Simple place with not much more than projectors and reels after reels of film being ran through each projectors. So this is how they did it!
