Manchester the city see a double celebration today as Manchester United take home the English Premier League title for the 19th time after drawing with Blackburn 1-1 at Ewood Park. The Saturday celebration kicked off with Manchester United playing away at Blackburn Rover’s Ewood Park and after conceeding the first goal to Blackburn thanks to a Brett Emerton finishing in the 2oth minute, Wayne Rooney equalized in a penalty in the 72nd minute following Paul Robinson’s foul on Javier Hernandez. The game petered out to a forgettable conclusion as both teams settles for the draw and the United players breaking out into mad celebration at the final whistle.

According to Sir Alex Ferguson, “It was a fantastic performance by the lads and the supporters and for everybody connected with the club it’s a great day today,” he said. “It wasn’t an easy game, we went 1-0 down having given them a bad goal but we kept on and we don’t give in. It looked like it was not going to be our day, we’ve always had it difficult here. It is a local derby and they are fighting for their lives, looking for that point, but we kept going and that’s a good quality.” (more…)
