Legend Hotel just launched their Penang Food & Cultural Promotion until the 8th of June. I was there on invitation to witness the launch of the promotion attended by the Chief Minister of Penang as well as various other members of Parliament.

After usual speeches by the Hotel Manager, Mr. Vincent Pillai and the CM of Penang and the launch of the promotion, the CM was taken on a tour of the buffet line checking out all the food that was spread across the restaurant. As for me, I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the food that was there.

The first area I attacked was non other than the Nasi Kandar stall that the CM just visited, simple reason is when I was doing my round taking photos of the food, the one area that attracted me was that said stall. Each of the dishes there was perfect, especially the fried chicken (which incidentally was the first to go that night).

The other must try was the Roast Lamb that look oh so wonderful, smell and taste wonderful too. The meat was roasted to the right texture.

The other must try is the raw salmon, very fresh and no fishy smell. Even had a few helpings myself before they stopped refilling the station after the 5th time.

To top off the wonderful night, there’s the variety of kuih melayu which would just give you that perfect send-off into food heaven. There are loads of other dishes there that is worth to try but of course, what I mentioned was the favorite of mine that night. What was the other food served there? Look at the photo album and find out for yourself.

Anyway, this is just a quick post as some readers left me messages asking me to post up some photos. So… here’s just a few photos to gloat about and I’ll post the rest once I’ve downloaded them from my camera.

This is one restaurant that has people talking for some time, well, among my friends that is. Tuesday night, pre-Thaipusam holiday, I decide to go check out the place instead of some other places as I’m sure KLites will be out there partying away as the Wednesday is a HOLIDAY!

Anyway, the environment in Cafe Cafe is cozy and romantic. The place felt like those home from the colonial days and give you that comfortable and relaxed mood. A great place to hang out if you’d just want a nice place to enjoy a bottle of wine and cheese (if you could eat them).

After we were ushered to our seats, we browse through the menu and placed our orders. What we had was the following.
crispy brie - It’s Cheese, so I never touched it unless you want to see me fall over and die?

soup of the day (brocolli) - I like this creamy soup, quite sweet.
No photos on this dish.
seafood spagetti - This is a nice simple dish with just a fair share of seafood accompanying the spagetti.

pan fried norwegian salmon fillet with boiled potato and cream of sun dried tomato - The Salmon’s prepared excellent with the skin at the right crunchiness. I wanted to complain when I realized I’ve placed the last piece of salmon into my mouth though. I didn’t know I finished it so soon!

chcolate tart - Beautiful piece, rich and hot chocolate, I want more!
A place I’d definitely visit again but it’s because of the nice environment and not because of the food.
