Apple & Job launched the iPad

After all the hype and the suspense leading up to yesterday night (Malaysia time), Apple finally launched their very own Tablet PC. Aptly named the iPad, it’s what most netizens would call an enlarged version of the iPod Touch/iPhone.

For people like myself who spend a lot of time online using their iPhone, this would be a tempting new ‘toy’ to play with. After all, it comes with a bigger screen meaning you can read/view things without constantly scrolling left and right to read texts on websites. The iPad will also be giving Amazon’s Kindle DX a run for it’s money as the iPad is able to give readers the chance to view materials in full color compared to the Kindle’s non-color, limited function device. The 16GB model is only USD$10 more than the USD$489 kindle too! (more…)

New iPhone to replace the 3Gs?

According to some news source / rumours from around the web, a new iPhone hardware model is being tested and Apple’s interest in updating the handset’s built-in Maps application have been revealed.

A Handset identifier as ‘iPhone 3,1′ was tracked by PinchMedia in its application iBART for San Fran’s public transportation, said the Apple Insider. According to MacRumors, iPhone 3,1 appeared in its usage logs last month.

The reference could signify a new iPhone model with substantial hardware changes, since Apple only changes the first number in a product’s identifier string when it receives a significant upgrade.

The current iPhone 3Gs carries the identifier iPhone 2,1 while the original iPhone was identified as iPhone 1,1. the 3G model carries the identifier iPhone 1,2. (more…)

Apple’s iPods and iPhones to carry advertising

The Daily Telegraph recently reported that a patent application filed in the United States suggests that the leading technology firm is considering introducing commercials in order to sell its products at a discounted price. Described in the application as “enforcement routine” software, it is believed the technology would force users to watch or listen to small adverts which they would be unable to skip past.

Apple, like all leading technology firms, regularly files experimental patent applications, which never come to fruition. But the inclusion of Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs’ name on the application, has led some commentators to conclude that the idea is being taken seriously by the company. It is believed pressure from rival firms, such as Spotify – which allows users to download free music tracks providing they listen to periodic adverts – has persuaded Apple to take the technology seriously. Go Fly Kite!

Kite Flying is making a comeback. The last time I went out to a field and fly kite was like ages ago (I think it was back in the early 90s) then somehow, kite flying ran out of popularity with the internet age as more people prefer to stay indoor in front of their computer.

Recently, the kite was making a comeback, small makeshift stalls start appearing near open fields selling all sort of kites, from the really huge ones to the small ones for kids. The best thing is, these aren’t made out of paper and the rods holding it together ain’t bamboo sticks sliced to a tiny slim stick. Now, it’s all modern, clothe type with printing on it from a simple 3 color design to as complex as a Ben 10 one. (more…)

Installing iPhone Apps

I’m posting this cause I was asked by not one, not two but quite a number of new iPhone users about how to install stuff into their iPhone. And so, the not so Tech Savvy person occasionally asked, how the heck do we install apps and games into the iPhone? Need to pay ah? Which Website to go? Well, hopefully this will help answer your questions.

Cool Jedi pic from Gizmodo :)

Well, if your phone’s jailbroken and you want to install free or paid apps without paying for it, you can give it a try with this helpful tip by Gizmodo. If you’re new iPhone users with phones purchased from an official iPhone dealer or Telco like Singtel (for Singapore) or Maxis (for Malaysia). You can just go straight into the App Store button on your iPhone and shop away. Look for the icon on the first page of your iPhone. (more…)

iPhone 3G coming to Malaysia!

Almost 1 year after Singapore brought in the iPhone 3G to their citizens, Maxis finally announce that they’ll be bringing in the iPhone 3G 8GB for free on its iValue 4 plan from March 20.

Maxis chief executive officer Sandip Das said in a statement: “We are very pleased to launch iPhone 3G in Malaysia as many of our mobile users have been eagerly anticipating this revolutionary phone.

They will really enjoy the many embedded and downloadable applications from the first time they use iPhone 3G.” You can read more about it here.

Maxis will offer the 8GB and 16GB iPhone 3G models with four specially designed postpaid plans called iValue, all of which are voice-data bundled price plans, starting from RM100 per month.

I’d say it’s about time they bring it into Malaysia. I guess like the saying goes, it’s better late than never. Right?

Shopping Adventure in Singapore’s shopping district

Those that knows me well enough knows that I seldom go shopping and even if I do, it’s normally cause the girlfriend wants to go. Well, it’s the same with every other guys out there too right?

Saw this Damsel with her Knight at the MRT station (why is the girl carrying the sword and shield and not the guy? Damn 9 sissy right the guy in the armour)

This time around, I could say that it’s the other way around. Now, my aim of the day was very simple, get down to town, get myself a pair of crocs (cause the one I had back in KL already is about time to be discarded) and get back home pronto!

OK, one bad thing I totally missed out on today was the Nike Human Run which was held at the very place I went. I totally missed it!! ARGH! My bloody phone’s reminder was reseted to 2000 and it totally didn’t remind me! ARGH!!!!!

All ready for the Adventure of the day!

OK, anyway, back to my little adventure in Singapore. Left Punggol at 11, we got to Bugis Junction at about 12ish and head straight for KFC. Yup, we’ve been craving for KFC for quite some time and decide to go for it as soon as we could find one. Josh524 joined us for lunch as well and spend some time chit chatting. From there, we took the MRT and head off to Velocity to look at some sports stuff but didn’t manage to get anything. (more…)
