Clarke Quay @ Singapore Time Lapse

Posted By Michael Yip / March, 20, 2011 / 0 comments

Shot this video while I was at Clarke Quay for dinner. Taken with a Panasonic DVX 102B from 7pm to 8pm at the New Bridge Road at 5minute intervals. Some parts are messed up but just want to share what I’ve done.

Will attempt a better time lapse the next time around. Any readers of this blog would like to share some tips on how to do a better time lapse?

Hooters Singapore

On one of my trips down to Singapore, I met up with some friends and decide to head over to Hooters for dinner. For those of you still living in the caves, yes, the infamous Hooters has a restaurant in Singapore! Now, here’s an interesting fact you might not know, Hooters Singapore is the company’s first overseas venture before they expand to the other parts of the world.

Hooters is a restaurant primarily made up of attractive waitresses so we will never see Hooters setting up shop in Malaysia, not in the near future (with the backward thinking of majority of the people in power and all those Holier-than-thou chaps that barks even at couples that stands too close to each other). Anyway, we were hungry, we weren’t sure what to eat in the Clarke Quay area even though there was a lot of restaurants around and so we (I think I just walked straight to Hooters while the rest was thinking) decided that Hooters is the place to go (more…)

Mr. Curry @ The Central, Clarke Quay

On one of my previous trip to Clarke Quay, quite some months back, a friend took me to this restaurant in Clarke Quay known simply as Mr. Curry. With a big cute japanese cat mascot adorning it’s entrance on the 3rd floor of The Central. The specialty of this restaurant is Curry, from the type that is non spicy to the really spicy ones.

The restaurant looks cozy with the design looking like those kitchen out of a manga/anime series. Nicely spaced seatings also allowed the customers to settle down comfortably for dinner. We got there about 6ish and by 7.30pm, there was a line outside waiting to get into the restaurant. Here’s something I don’t understand about Singaporeans going out to eat. If there’s a huge line at the restaurant, why can’t they move on to another restaurant to eat instead of lining up for up to an hour if needed just to eat at that restaurant? (more…)

Clarke Quay & Fullerton: Day & Night

On a recent trip down to Singapore, I join up with some backpackers from around the world (there’s 2 Japanese, 1 Indian from UK, 1 Vietnamese from Ireland, 1 American, 2 Spaniards and a Greek) on a little walk around Clarke Quay and Fullerton area. Well, a little walk cause it’s all inter-connected and we basically walked from Clarke Quay all the way to Fullerton and back.

Here are some landscape shots from the whole little walk. The local municipal was in the midst of preparing for the Singapore F1 so there’s a lot of areas where they have started to put up boundaries, fences and so forth making some of the more scenic shots look plain ugly. (more…)

Portraits: Fashionably Sultry Yvonne

The following are a series of photos of Baby Yvonne in a more fashion based theme. The shoot was done during mid morning when the sun was heading towards it’s high point resulting in a very flat and challenging shoot.

With the clothes and make-up style, I tried to gear the whole project towards the retro feel. (more…)
