Wan Tan Mee Sungai Besi
I used to go to this restaurant for some wan tan mee each time after I dance last time as it’s the route I normally take to go home. By day, it’s a car accessory shop and by night, it’s the famous Wan Tan Mee restaurant that opens til late night or should I say early into the morning.

If you are looking for varieties of side dishes to go with the wan tan mee, this is the place for you as they have everything from wild boar curry to chicken feet. My favorite each time I eat there other than the barbecue pork is the hakka style fried pork but sadly, on this trip there. They have already ran out of the pork, even the wild boar curry was finished. (more…)
Kam Ling Restaurant @ Kampar
One of the biggest restaurant in Kampar is located in the older part of Kampar and it has since grown since many years ago, from a tiny restaurant til now taking up to 5 shop lots with 1 part selling the dim sum and catering to the locals while there’s the ‘ballroom’ size that caters more towards the tourists, weddings and big crowds. You can see from the picture the older restaurant and the bigger newer units.

It’s been quite a while since we last ate at this restaurant and decide to head there for lunch. We came from the cemetery after some prayer session at my family’s grave so we also brought along some roast pork which they took and cook. Simple preparation with some dark soy sauce, garlic and some sugar which we cook every now and then at home too. (more…)
Chinese Horoscope for the Year of the Rabbit 2011
It’s that time of the year again where we reflect on what our Chinese horoscope ‘advice’ us for this year. Again, I’m just sharing what I received through email. Whether it really reflects on you is purely on yourself. Have a great 2011. The Year of The Rabbit begins on February 3rd 2011. Most Rabbit years are quiet, positive and inspiring and 2011 looks to be heading in this direction – a refreshing change after the fast-moving and quite dramatic Year of the Tiger. Family, diplomacy and personal development will all be highlighted in 2011. Once again alternative sources of energy and green living will be under the spotlight.

Overall, it should be a fun and relatively peaceful year. Even though aggression, violence and war zones will still be in evidence, the Chinese Rabbit year favors peaceful solutions and diplomacy, so there will be a feeling that all is not lost and that hope is still very much alive. Let’s take a look at each animal, their major personality traits and what the prospects are for 2011, the Year of the Rabbit. (more…)
Lunch @ Ipoh Garden East Ocean Seafood Restaurant
It’s been awhile (since Chinese New Year) that the loads of us adults and our bunch of noisy little monsters got together as a family for lunch, and so we head over to Ipoh Garden East Ocean Seafood Restaurant and got ourself into a nice cosy room (so that the lunch hour crowd would not be bombarded by the madness that is in the form of 5 hyper active children) and got ourselves some well deserved food.

This restaurant is sort of my family’s usual eating place when we have the cravings of something more than our usual consumption. Even the staffs there are friendly to us like we’re their long lost friends each time we go, but then in Ipoh, it’s quite a norm that most people will know most people. The 6th Degree of Separation is in full effect here. (more…)
