Chelsea Asia Tour 2011 – Photos & Video of Malaysia XI vs Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC came to the field to huge applause as they take on the Malaysia Olympic Team or better known as the Harimau Muda (Young Tiger) among the local fans. Yes, I was there to catch the game. Yes, all my photos was on the field because FAM provided me with the necessary credential for me to head down even though Samsung Malaysia and Noobie Industries provided me with some tickets, I gave the tickets away as I rather be at the field near to the action than sitting at the stand some distance away. A totally different squad was field from the one helm by K. Rajagopal as the Harimau Malaya has since gone down to Singapore in preparation for their World Cup Qualifier. I would say the turn out of the night was much better (there was a total of 84,980 people in the stadium) than I expected, in fact, there were more fans at the stadium than when Arsenal was playing just a week ago.

I guess a lot of the fans was expecting the Blues to pile on the hurting on the Malaysians as the senior squad have already conceded a total of 10 goals to both Arsenal and Liverpool so far. But boy, were the fans and I guess the team wrong! The Olympic boys held themselves real nicely against the big boys and giving the Blues the right respect where they deserved, on the field playing the game head on without allowing the visitors chances to score. Chelsea is back in Malaysia since their last visit back in 2008. Back then, they were just hot off the World Cup frenzy with Michael Ballack being the big draw for the fans, Even non-Chelsea fans but supporters of Germany was there to watch them play in National Stadium. This time around, the big draw is the new manager that Chelsea managed to pry away from Porto, hot off his Europa Cup win, Andre Villas-Boas will be coming into the star studded team and stamp in his authority with us being lucky enough to catch a glimpse of what to expect in the 2011/2012 season.

Might we even get to see Roberto Di Matteo in the stand as well working closely with Villas-Boas to help Roman Arkadyevich Abramovich’s team win the Premier League and any trophies they are in contention for? Definitely not, I prefer to watch Manchester United win them all but then, that’s because I’m a fan of MUFC. But nevertheless, I’m a big football fan first and a club fan second. So I am excited as a fan to be able to go catch these players in Action, thanks to the guys from Noobie for running this contest and for Samsung to bring the team over again. (more…)
