Lojing Kids in Black & White
This is a continuation of the series of Black & White photos I took at Lojing when I was there to document the life of the Orang Asli there. In this series, the focus is the kids that came out to play when I was there.

They started off being very shy, hiding and all as they are not sure who we are or what we were doing there. But they soon warmed up to our presence especially after I showed them some of the photos I took. (more…)
Along the Lojing Trail
The following black and white photo series is from a recent trip to the Pos Brooke orang asli (Malaysian Aborigines) settlement in Lojing. I was there along with a group of people ranging from orang asli specialists, researchers to geologists and experts in the highland ecology. Having able to spend a day with them, we have come to realized that because of our aim for fast economic growth, we are affecting a lot of things around us.

For instance, for the settlement in Lojing, their source of natural food and water comes from the river which ran from Cameron Highlands. As we know, Cameron Highlands is an agricultural area where most of Malaysia’s tea grew from, in the highlands also we have other farming activities from the strawberry farms to the typical vegetation farming which provides us in the city fresh daily supplies of vegetables to cook. Now, all is good in this sense, but from all this activities, as it gets more widespread and abundance, the ecological problem also start to arise. (more…)
Lojing Aboriginal Kid
Some of you might know that at the moment, I’m traveling from KL to Cameron’s Highlands to Gua Musang and end the journey in Kota Bharu. Yesterday was the day we spend a fair bit of time at the Lojing Orang Asli Settlement, located between Cameron’s Highlands and Gua Musang. One of the activity I plan to do on this trip is to document the life of these people and to do some portraits of these people in Black & White.

The photos are shot in black & white on the camera itself as I don’t really see the need to do much editing on the computer once I’ve transferred the file over. It’s to also save time on my end. This kid I shot was really shy when I first went up to him, he saw me coming and start calling out to his parents while giggling away and as I got nearer, he dashed into the house to hide. (more…)
Portraits: Fashionably Sultry Yvonne
The following are a series of photos of Baby Yvonne in a more fashion based theme. The shoot was done during mid morning when the sun was heading towards it’s high point resulting in a very flat and challenging shoot.

With the clothes and make-up style, I tried to gear the whole project towards the retro feel. (more…)
