A Day with Mr. Robo…

Hello, I’m Robo, I guess you can say I’m his “Guest Blogger” and I’m here to talk to you about my experience tagging along with Mike on his typical work day. Yes, he does leave the house every now and then instead of hiding in his little cave staring at the computer. He started his day way too early for my liking, we left the house for the cafe at 7am just so he’ll get his lil cuppa black coffee.

Breakfast was quite a long one as he tend to spend that time to catch up on his news, from the local front to the international papers (and most of it is on sports). It’s quite a boring time for me as there’s no eye candy at the cafe so early in the morning. And he always hide in a small corner away from everyone else. (more…)

Kedai Makanan Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh @ Klang

This was the first time I went to this restaurant, supposedly very famous and serve one of the best Bak Kut Teh in Klang. So with many people singing praises for this restaurant, I went there with quite a high expectation on the food they served. Knowing how busy a chinese restaurant can get, I didn’t really bother about their service which as expected was the usual chinese styled very busy until I don’t have time to serve you sort.

I must say that the unique location does add to it’s attraction with it being beneath a bridge (well, not entirely beneath it) and next to the KTM track. In term of seating space, go early if you want to get down to some eating fast cause the place get packed very fast and you’d have to resort to intercepting seating space as soon as the patrons before you finished their meal. Balestier Bak Kut Teh @ ION Orchard

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my pork, and one of my fav. pork dishes are the bak kut tehs. Tell me where the best Bak Kut Teh place is located and I’ll try to make it there to give it a try. One such place I was recommended to try out in Singapore is the Balistier Teochew style Bak Kut Teh (pork rib soup) from a famous eatery in Balestier Road. Well, instead of heading over to Balestier Road (I don’t know where that is) and I went to the one in ION Orchard.

We were ushered into the place and got ourselves a nice table to sit on, atmosphere wise, the place is nice and comfortable. Maybe because it’s located in a nice shopping complex like the ION Orchard. Anyway, it took us some time to browse through the menu and since we know what we are going for, we place our orders quickly. One thing I was reminded to do is, leave the Malaysian taste bud at home cause I’ll be overly disappointed if I judge the food based on what I’ve been eating all my life. (more…)

Pork Noodle @ Yit Sieang Restaurant

It was a saturday, didn’t had much plan then was messaged by DamienOY to see whether I’d like to meet up for lunch. First question I asked was what are we looking at? And he promptly reply… BAK KUT TEH! My automatic reaction was, OK! Will pick you up at 12!

Come 12pm, reached his place and the first thing he said was, ‘Dude, I forgot the address of that Bak Kut Teh restaurant in Puchong….’ and so, an alternative was decided upon, Banana Leaf rice! It had been awhile back since I last ate Banana Leaf rice and so, why not? And since we’re so close to Brickfield, that was the destination of choice. Now, here’s the funny thing. The place we wanted to go was DamienOY’s fav. hang out but as we reached the restaurant, we weren’t allowed to go in as it was located within an apartment unit and the security in the area only allowed residents of the apartment to go into the area. And with that, it was off to the next venue. Pork noodle time! (more…)

Weng Heong Bak Kut Teh

Went there quite some time back when QQMeng came to visit, with Freaky, MooMooNicole, her sis and another friend, we squeezed ourselves into one little Honda Jazz and made our way to Klang, Weng Heong Restaurant to be exact.

Now, we just basically ordered the standard stuff, a pot of Bak Kut Teh for 7 people even though there’s only 6 of us with the major ingredients being the ribs as well as the meat. Now, I’m not sure about other people but I find the soup abit … too bland. There’s just not enough herbs in it. I don’t get a kick out of their soup. Very very disappointed with it. (more…)
