He got famous playing the the side kick of Shrek, now, he has his very own movie to boot. It’s a story of where he came from, with a mixture of intrigue, betrayal and adventure all intermix beautifully in 3D. This movie was originally planned to be Direct-to-DVD and thank God they decide to release in the cinema first.

The Plot

Long before he even met Shrek, the notorious fighter, lover and outlaw Puss in Boots becomes a hero when he sets off on an adventure with the tough and street smart Kitty Softpaws and the mastermind Humpty Dumpty to save his town.  This is the true story of The Cat, The Myth, The Legend…The Boots. Samsung Smart TV Launched!

It was one of those days I woke up with a daze not knowing what I was supposed to do even though I recall that I need to be at somewhere until I saw posting on Facebook on the Samsung Smart TV event. Then I realized that heck, I have to be there and upon checking my email from Samsung, I was supposed to be there at 10am and what time did I woke up? 10am! It was a mad rush to 1Utama hoping I don’t miss anything before the start only to realized yet again, I’m the earliest there.

Now, this post isn’t on my morning adventure but what is in store by Samsung Electronics for the home entertainment market. Once the media has settled down, Mr. Yu Jai Sul was invited onto the stage for the opening address before a product presentation was done by Mr. Chong Xu Jenn but that’s not the important part as what attracts me is the Smart 3D LED TVs and the Smart TVs they have. The 2011 line-up of Samsung’s home entertainment system look very appealing but I must admit that as a person who already have majority of the system hooked up to a ‘network’ at home. What Samsung present was a bit of an old news but the good stuff is the Smart 3D LED TVs they were showcasing. Aside from the slightly old fashion looking 3D glasses we have to wear to get the 3D effect on the TV, it’s technology of using Bluetooth does give it an edge as when it comes to pairing up each system with the glasses, the pairing is unlimited. You can pair as many 3D glasses you have with a single TV if you want or according to Mr. Chong, pair a single spec to as many TVs as you want. (more…)

Journey To The Center of the Earth 3D

Movie Review with a bunch of Nuffnangers (Robb and Nick from Nuffnang, StrippedSteph, Minli and Frankie) for the movie Journey To The Center of the Earth 3D.

The movie’s about a science professor whose radical theories have completely tarnished his reputation. While backpacking across Iceland with his nephew Sean, the two explorers find a cave that leads them deep down into the bowels of the planet. And so they go on a quest to find out what has happened to the scientist’s missing brother, a scientist, his nephew and their mountain guide discovers a fantastic and dangerous lost world in the center of the earth. There they discover a bizarre landscape filled with terrifying creatures.

The movie is worth the wait and with the 3D experience, it brought a whole new movie experience to the audience. Go watch it! At some point, you’d want to reach out your own hands and see if you’d be able to catch any of the birds or the falling rocks as you fall together with the stars. That’s how well they create the 3D experience.

How we look with the 3D Specs

We were told this is the first digital movie to be fully shot in 3D and the experience is just incredible! Midvalley’s GSC is the only cinema as far as GSC is concern to provide the audience with the 3D experience, the other cinemas will feature the movie in the the normal 2D format but nevertheless, it’ll still be nice. If you want to experience the 3D features, then you should check out the Hall 4 of Midvalley’s GSC. At RM17 per ticket, it’s still worth the money paid.

Top: Digital Projector | Bottom: Conventional Film Projector

We can’t take home the 3D specs though or it’ll be a RM200 fine. I wonder if the old paper version we get at the normal 3D cinemas works with this movie or not. After all, it’s still 3D right? Shall give it a try next time round.

The Dolby 3D Specs

After the movie, we were taken on a tour to the projector room to show us how the whole system works and looking at it, the conventional film projector’s way bigger and more complex looking compared to the digital projector. And with everything stored on HDD, it also became a big space saver too!

The movie’s stored here!

If you’ve always been wondering how the projector room of a cinema looks like, well, this is how it looks. Simple place with not much more than projectors and reels after reels of film being ran through each projectors. So this is how they did it!
