Swedish Meal @ IKEA Tampines

It was one of those days where I had a sudden craving for IKEA food, mind you, I do go over to IKEA@Mutiara Damansara a lot with my family for meals but it’s quality pales in comparison to what IKEA@Singapore can offer. The IKEA of choice whenever I’m in Singapore? Is the one at Tampines, maybe it’s because I’m more familiar with that area than the one at Alexander Road.

As there’s only limited choice of what you can order at IKEA, I ordered the Chicken Drumstick meal which consist of a piece of baked chicken leg served with coleslaw, mashed potato and baby carrots on the side. The way it’s prepared is basically similar to the way it’s prepared in IKEA@Mutiara Damansara except that here, they use baby carrots while the one in Malaysia served with sliced carrots.

The other meal ordered was the Baked Salmon, served with potatoes and vegetables topped with some cream sauce. The sauce itself isn’t too heavy that it didn’t drown out the salmon and it’s thicker than the Malaysia version which is quite watery. The Salmon’s also very fresh and isn’t over done so it won’t fall apart at the slightest touch.

The reason why I love the food at IKEA Singapore more than IKEA Malaysia? Their Swedish Meatballs! What’s so special about the meatballs in IKEA Singapore? Simple! …. There’s … PORK inside! Yups! It taste different, doesn’t have that smelly beef smell to it and it taste awesome! OK, I might be going overboard with how wonderful it taste but if you’ve not tried the Pork Meatballs, you’re at a lost. Seriously. Definitely worth a trip back there just for the meatballs any time.

baby carrot is expensive than baby carrot, in msia they served u sliced carrot, meaning cutting cost lo. :p
that sauce for salmon, it seems like bearnaise sauce is more creamy, i’m not sure about ikea msia,if they served lemon butter sauce will be watery.
oh ya, that day received an email mentioned ikea cafe in msia sausage supplier is not halal due to the ‘layer’ used for the sausage meat, not sure is true or not. nowadays, halal is a hot topic pula. >,<

@JC: the supplier for Ikea is halal, if not, i think long time already IKEA will be closed down for selling food to the muslims. Not sure bout the sauce in Malaysia as i seldom order salmon.
