StrippedSteph’s Birthday Surprise @ Graze Restaurant

StrippedSteph’s birthday just passed and to myself, one of the best thing that I could pull off was the place to bring her for dinner to celebrate her birthday. She has been bugging (more like interrogate) me where I’m planning to bring her for dinner and my only answer to her was … “KFC”. That answer naturally get her pissed off but hey, who would want to tell the VIP where they have arranged for the dinner right? After all, that’s what we call SURPRISE! Right?

Anyway, the place of choice was this little restaurant known simply as Graze. Located at Rochester Park, it’s definitely a place she didn’t expect me to bring but the one thing that is priceless to me is her look when she saw the place when we stepped into the restaurant.

Before we started with the actual dinner, we sat down in the garden for a nice drink, I ordered the fresh fruit margarita – mango blended with tequila and fresh lime juice; and she had the blush cosmopolitan – lychee liquer, crème de fraise and fresh pineapple juice.

Half an hour later, we decide to make our way into the restaurant’s air conditioned area which was just perfect. Just the two of us, no one else around, nice Jazz music piping in through the sound system. It didn’t take long for us to decide what to order or rather, what I’d love for us to share.

The first entrée was the Tiger Prawns 3 Ways – served chilled, with tempura, and pan tossed with coconut coriander sorbet and cucumber oil at the side.

The main course for the night was none other than the Wagyu Eye of Rump – 800g of rangers valley’s finest served with Béarnaise and shiraz sauces.

On the side of the main course are the house chopped salad

mash potatoes

and corn on the cob.

Next up, the surprise dessert. Before we get on with that, here’s the interesting thing about the whole dessert part. She told me that she wants to eat some dessert while we were still eating the main dish but I can’t let her know that I already had something planned up. And it took some time for the guys at Graze to prepare the surprise and she was getting impatient and kept asking why isn’t anyone coming in to take our order for dessert!

After a nervous 20minute of stalling, finally the waiter came in with the Black and White – sticky white and dark chocolate pudding with white and dark ice cream topped off with a single candle for her to blow.

That’s about it and we made our way home after that but now, 2 days after that dinner, she’s constantly bugging me to bring her back there for the food. Gosh! What have I done? *swt*
