SPCA’s Stuffed Pussy

I got this for StrippedSteph awhile back. I came across it at SPCA’s booth that was set up to seek donation  for their shelter from the public. Aside from just asking for donations, they also sell stuff like clothes, cards, books and so forth that would come in useful when you’re a person who’s looking at owning his/her first pet.

Anyway, among all the things on the table, this was the only thing that caught my attention, so automatically, my hands reached out to it and took it up to have a closer look. What do you know, it’s a cute little stuffed pussycat. Such a suitable toy for Steph as her pet name in the family is also pussycat.

Before I could even ask how much it cost, the lady manning the counter informed me that it’s not for sale and it’s her own toy she brought out to decorate the table top with among other stuff. I put it back to where it belonged and before I walked off, she called me back and say that if I make a donation, she wouldn’t mind parting with it and give it to me. Digging around my pocket, I could only came up with a $5 which I promptly put into the donation box. I told her that what I donated isn’t much so forget about it cause I’m sure it cost more than that for the toy.

Well, guess what? She gave it to me anyway and I gave it to Steph when she came back from work. Not sure whether she really like it or not cause I couldn’t tell by her reaction.

Anyway, do support the SPCA or your local Animal shelter, the people working there truly put in a lot of effort in caring for those animals that was abandoned by their owners. Sad but true, a lot of people out there get themselves a pet cause they are cute and all but abandon them when the animal grew older/unkept.

If you plan to get a pet, ask yourself whether you really need/want one or not and willing to care for it for as long as it lives. Don’t go getting one on a whim cause the animal’s cute and abandon it when you’re bored of it. Even though they can’t speak or isn’t as smart as you (some of them are way smarter than the owner), the animal still have a soul. They are not toys.
