Relationship in RPG Language

If you’re new to the relationship scene and you’re not sure on how to navigate around it, here’s some simple explanation from the RPG or Role Playing Game point of view. I guess for those of you who’s not heard of RPG, you can therefore look at it from the MMORPG or Massively multiplayer online role-playing game point of view.

Just imagine you’re a character (any reference from here on, just think of yourself in your own gender, I’ll just use a HE as a reference). Like all new characters when you start out in an adventure, you start off with a clean sheet. With just the basic stats, no weapons at all and practically the worst Peon available in the system (depending on how you configure the character when you do the profile).

OK, how do we proceed from here? Moving into the process of looking for THE ONE… It’s not that easy right? Well, same thing here. You’re given tips, guidance and some wrong tips as well by talking to people, or in the MMORPG, the NPC (non-playable characters) that you interact with. Right? There are bound to be one NPC that was designed to lead you to the wrong path, but either way, each NPCs are designed so that you can get encounter trouble/enemies/creatures, this is where you gain experience and so forth. Basically the only way you can gain EXP and any other thing you require, weapons, items, credits/golds. Same thing with real life, right? Each encounter with a different person or scenario provides you with a new experience to add into your life.

From here on, it’s time to search for your ‘Goal’ and find the ways to achieve it. It’s the same in MMORPGs, you approach the right characters in the town you’re in and you’d receive goals that you need to achieve to move on with your game. In real life, the goal here will represent the girl (and if you’re a girl, this represent the GUY you’re going after). Just like in the game, this ‘Goal’ will either be one that you’d be spending the rest of your playing time trying to reach or be one of the few goals you’d conquer and move on. For some, they just need one that will be the one that they require, for some, they need to go through several goals before they hit the right one that’ll help them in winning the game.

If you’re rejected in the RPG, normally the next best move is to go back out there and try to achieve your next goal and then proceed to the clan elders again, eventually, you’d reach the clan that’ll accept you with an open arm. This is where you’d proceed to the next step as a ‘Clan Member’. Real world, just like the RPG, acceptance into the clan doesn’t really mean you’re part of the ‘Family’. You’re then be given more tasks from the Clan Elders, some of which, will help you level up even faster in the Clan Heirachy. BUT! Be warned! You must proceed cautiously here as what you do will determine where you stand in the Clan, you wouldn’t want to end up becoming the Priest of the Clan right? In the real world, that means you’re assimilated into the family more as a ‘Brother’ to the girl and nothing more. Not a good move unless that’s your aim!

With each Class/Job upgrade, you’d have to always approach the Clan Elders, just like in real life, you have to ask the permission from the parents of the girl if you want to proceed from just boyfriend/girlfriend to something more serious and so on and so forth. With the right EXP, Gold and Weapons, the Clan Elders normally would allow you to proceed, sometimes, even gain bonus if you complete the ‘RIGHT’ missions. And just like most MMORPGs, there’s no such thing as Cheat Codes cause you’re dealing with other playable characters and not just the computer’s NPCs. Your Goal’s task also become tougher too!

You expect your Goal to stay stagnant after you achieve it in the first place? You’re DEAD WRONG! There’s more things to do to improve on your Goal! Some easily solved through the use of Gold, some solved through the use of your WEAPON(s?) and some can be solved through your EXP. You got what I mean? And when you reach the level required to finally reach your Job Change status, you can then proceed to the Clan Elders again where you can request for Job/Class change. This is where you have to play smart, one wrong move and that’s it, you’re back to Square one. For those impatient ones, this is where they’d either go kill themselves or thrash the CPU. Anyway, as I was saying, select the CORRECT Option, and you’ll be assimilated into the Clan as one of the Elders along with your Goal. In real world term, we’re talking about you achieving your goal of proposing to your girl, the family accepts you and you’re welcomed into the family as part of the family.

From here, it’s all a whole new adventure and well, that’s for another time. Right? One step at a time we should go. Once you’ve reached this stage, we’ll then proceed to the next stage of the game. Til then, this is the end of my post.

I believe, this is one of my longest post on this blog. Hope you enjoy it, feel free to input if you feel that I left out anything in this little MMORPG adventure.
