Paddington House of Pancakes @ The Curve

It has been awhile since I last been to Paddington and so on a Wednesday before heading off for Salsa, that’s where we went. Since the last time I visited the place, Paddington House of Pancakes at The Curve has expanded from just a single store to the size of 2 lots. Design of the place is beautifully done but the same can’t be said about the service as we were seated towards the more quiet corner of the restaurant so we could have some nice conversation without the worry of raising our voice too much. After walking up to the waiters that was congregating in the other part of the restaurant and made them come over to take my orders, it didn’t take long for them to serve us our food.

What I had was the Rancher’s Smokey Chicken Burger – Grilled chicken with BBQ Sauce, chicken bacon, hashbrown and peppers on 2 pineapple upside down pancakes. The portion was just right and the overall taste was just so so. Won’t say that it’ll be a dish I’d come back for as there’s quite a selection in the menu to select from.

My date ordered the Whipped Cream Cheese – raisins, dried pineapple and apricots filled pancakes. Served with maple syrup and ice cream. She felt cheated as she was on a diet and the portion was quite large which is a good thing for those who wish to get their money worth. Basically you get a few slices of pancakes with thick cream whipped together from the combination of raisins, dried pineapple and apricots. She was hoping to have bites of the actual fruits. Guess we’ll be wiser next time and check with the waiter before confirming the order.

If you’re looking for a ‘light dinner’ with a difference compared to the usual western affair, you can give this place a go, the place is big enough to be quite comfortable and when there’s not much crowd, it’s a nice place to chill and chat over meal.
