Nazim Restaurant @ Vientiane

Sabaidee! That’s the Lao’s way to say Hello. Just an update from Vientiane, it was at Nazim for dinner. Located just beside the Mekong River, Nazim Indian Halal Food restaurant serves up some nice indian dishes we can eat back in Malaysia.

Having malays as part of the team, we have to make sure that the place we go to is Halal as most of you know, muslims can’t really eat pork.

Walking in during the peak dinner hour, we have to endure some waiting time for our food to come after we placed our orders. Personally, I ordered the Teh Halia for drinks.

Followed by Half a Tandoori Chicken. Costing 40,000 KIP, this half chicken was marinated in yogurt overnight with selected spices (their trade secret) and baked in the tandoor before serving. Unlike those we eat in Malaysia, this wasn’t spicy at all. The portion is also not as big as those we normally get at the indian restaurants back in our home turf.

To add on to that, I also had some plain naan. To those wondering what Naans are, they are a traditional leavened bread freshly cooked in a Tandoor. Costing 6000 KIP, I feel that it was nicely done and crispy. I requested for dhaal and its a tad salty compared to those we have in Kuala Lumpur. I would recommend this place especially for the muslim as it’s Halal and the food is not that bad.

@nikel: I’m not in Vietnam but in Laos. Even though they are near each other, it’s a different place all together. And yes, the food here are spicy, wait, let me correct that… it’s FREAKING SPICY! but some places are just quite ok. For example, like Nazim.
