Marché @ Vivo City

It’s been awhile since I last ate at Marche, it was so long ago that I can’t remember what I ate there but I’m sure the one I had at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara is similar to the one at Vivo City.

It was a nice day when I could spend a nice quiet day and head to somewhere nice for dinner. The venue of choice? Marché Movenpick Restaurant @ Vivo City.

The concept is pretty much the same, you’re given a card that you pass to the restaurant’s cook when you place your orders be it an appetizer or meat or drinks. We were brought to a nice spot near the windows overlooking this open space which was quiet nice until…..

Anyway, I’ll bring that part up shortly, after settling down, we decide to survey the place and pick out what we would like to eat and so we took a walk around the whole restaurant looking at the menu and such. At any one time, there’s more people walking about than sitting down and eating. Is it because there’s too much choices that no one knows what they want or the food’s just too little?

We started off with Soup and Salad, the soup’s too creamy for my liking but StrippedSteph manage to finish it and the salad, even though I asked for a medium serving, came in a pathetically small plate and I’ve to pay $8.90 for it. No Thank You! Doesn’t justify the price we have to pay for it. First time I regret ordering a dish before I even eat it.

Here’s where the little adventure of a broken radio player comes to play, next to our table was another table for 2 and a lady and her daughter sat on that table, not that we mind or anything but soon, we regretted but because there’s no other tables available, we could not run! From the time we sat down with our starters, we could hear this girl talking away with her mom. Not that we don’t like people talking, we do converse among ourselves too but her volume’s great enough to drown out our conversation! That’s not all, she somehow was born with 2 mouth? Cause she was like yakking away non-stop, practiclly non-stop!!! and eating at the same time!!!! I asked Steph, “I wonder how she chew her food and talk at the same time, when does she stop and breath?”, it was freaking annoying! I felt like walking up to her and stuffing a whole chunk of gum into her mouth so that we can have a peaceful dinner. Practically spoilt our mood for the night. Just thinking back to it annoys the shit out of me.

Our main dishes was also quite a disappointment, I ordered the Roasted Kampong Chicken which cost $16.90 for a whole chick, did I enjoy it, I’m lying if I say that it was good. The sauce that came with it was too watery and pathetic, the chicken was cold even though I insist on one that’s from their roaster instead of the one on display, there’s no side dishes at all. $16.90 just for one pathetic cold chicken where as I could spend that amount and enjoyed myself 100 and 1 percent at KFC with more meat than what’s served to me here!

The Aus. Chilled Lamb Rack Shoulder also for $16.90 and it only came in 3 tiny puny pieces that contained more bones than meat. The meat was so so, no sauce at all so she had to make do with the chili sauce, I took a bite from it and I felt bad cause she was left with almost nothing but bones after that.

I must say that the only thing that we enjoyed was the dessert, I had the Single Scoop Mövenpick Chocolate ice cream which was yummy and sweet for $4.90. All I can remember from it was that it was sweet! Really sweet!

The Crepe of the Week for $7.50, it consist of a plain batter with home made apple marmalade and fresh cut mix fruit. Nicely prepared, sweet but isn’t overwhelmingly so and there’s more here than the roast chicken and lamb add together. I think we got full by sharing this at the end of the day. We washed all this down with a glass of Root Beer and a glass of Soft drink.

Would I go back there again to eat? a strong 100% no, other people might feel that the price is quite ok but to me, for the amount I’m getting, I could eat something better and tastier for the money we paid for this meal. There’s plenty of choices for a person to choose from but I don’t fancy what I saw there, the only thing that captured my attention was the atmosphere in the place which is akin to going to a chinese kopitiam but one that is of a higher end non-chinese version.
