Manchester United vs Malaysia – Photos from Field Level
The stadium wasn’t as packed as the Saturday game, must say that the Malaysian team wasn’t playing as well as the first game either. Here are some of my thoughts along with loads of photos.

The Starting 11
The defensive players held on tight to their positioning and did well even though 2 goals were scored against them. Can’t really compare much between a team that’s been playing together for an entire season and a team assembled 12 days prior to the game right?

The Chase

People asked; do we miss Ronaldo now that he’s gone? The answer is a plain No. He’s a great player, there’s no doubt about it. But he’s also a player who’s more ‘self centered’ than the other players. If he can hold the ball longer and go on the attack on his own, he’ll do it. The current no. 7, Michael Owen, was a much better team player, having just joined them prior to coming to Malaysia, we can see how well he’s able to read the game and coordinate with his team mates.

Ryan Giggs

Will he do well in the no. 7 jersey and live up to the hype of that no.? It’s hard to tell, the level of competition in friendlies and the actual season is very different. So far, Owen already scored a goal each in both the games he played. Hopefully, this form will continue in the 2009/2010 season that’s starting in August.

Guess the Man Utd Player! Hint: See the Jersey no. of Aidil Zafuan
On the other hand, I must say that Malaysia had come a long way to where they are now, comparing the players of this team to the previous group. The amount of pace and teamwork is truly improved, I’m not comparing the team against any team here but solely from what I see for myself. The players are sharper and more willing to go on the attack and run back to defend unlike the previous team where once they’ve run up, it takes forever to get back to the defensive side.

Everyone’s Fav. No. The 69
I might be wrong but then it’s just personal observation. The Depth of the team is there, with more games against top teams and keeping the teamwork up, I’m sure we could see the Malaysian Tigers move back to where they were in the Golden age of Malaysian football, the top team amongst the Asian teams.

Being Tackled or Diving?

Passing Forward
I know my photos didn’t turn out that well, was quite a distance away from the field and is only equipped with the AF-S Nikkor 18-200mm shooting with high ISO on the Nikon D300. These are my favorite photos that you see here, for the rest of the album, you can check out my Flickr account here.
