Ice Kacang Kepong Baru
Was brought to this place by my family cause they saw a review of it on TV. And so we off, to this place at Jalan Kepong Baru, it’s located about 2 stalls away from the T junction so it’s not hard to miss.

First impression of the place, we find that there’s quite a number of people there, normally when there’s a lot of people, it could only mean that the food there’s quite good right? Well, we found a nice table to sit down, ordered an ice kacang for each of us and waited.

It took them about 15min to serve us and the first look of the ice kacang sure looks good but the taste is not so. The ‘gula melaka’ wasn’t cooked properly before preparation and the ice kacang doesn’t really taste nice because of it. At RM2.20 a bowl, it’s quite cheap but it’s not the best we’ve eaten.

After the supper, can say that the reason why the review was good is cause the shop had prior notice before the review and they made it real good for TV and the host. Guess food reviews on TV is not always true to what we eat when we go to those shops reviewed. Take the reviews on TV with a pinch of salt. Agree?

@Wingz: based on past experiences, not all places are charged to be featured on TV. Alot of time, when the show ran out of content, they rely on word of mouth on where there’s good food and so forth and take the chance to go there and shoot. After approval from the operator/owner, a date will be set and the production will then head there to produce the segment. Normally, these owners will then produce the best dish their chef/cooks can produce just for the show and well… that’s what you get, on TV, everything is super delicious and everything is super nice. Cause that’s what the host are made to say. OF course, there are places where the food are really good whether it’s in front of the camera or you go walking in and trying them out. What I normally do is, go to the place, eat there and try out their menu without letting them know why I was there. If it’s good, I’ll then inform them of the intention. At least I’m not trying to cheat my viewers. These days, not many would do such homework for their shows.
@Farah: Is it? Where ah? Recommend abit ler..
@Nicole: Haven’t been to Broga Hill yet so when I do go there, will give it a try.

But they r not consistent in their servings. Sometimes just nice. Sometime their ice is too coarse.
