HKFDC New Action Initiative
The Kong Kong Film Development Council launched the Hong Kong Film NEW ACTION in December 3rd, 2008. HKFDC then followed it up with a large scale promotion plan to develop the Hong Kong film market in mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore and lastly in Malaysia.

I am glad that I got the chance to be part of this initiative when HKFDC came to Malaysia this week. It’s not often we get to talk to the Hong Kong directors, Producers as well as Industry Veterans all within the same platform. On Thursday, the HKFDC organized a dinner at The Boulevard Hotel to bring together fellow counterparts from the Malaysian Film and Broadcasting industry. A time when peers from both country could sit down and talk over a nice casual dinner.

The highlight for me personally was the chance to meet two industry veterans, Mr. Raymond Wong Pak Ming, actor, film director, producer, script writer and presenter. I’m sure most of you would remember him from movies such as Happy Ghost, Aces Go Places, How to Be a Millionaire, Mr. Coconut, All’s Well End’s Well (and it’s 2009 version).

The other person was Mr. Teddy Robin, an actor, composer, director and producer. Before the show business, he started off in a band, Teddy Robin and The Playboys in the 60s. For those growing up in front of the television and cinema, he’s best remembered from movies like All the Wrong Spies, Workng Class, The Banquet, Double Dragon, Hong Kong Graffiti (of which he is also the Director and Producer).
If you’re into film, wanting to learn the art of directing a movie and learning from experienced people, these are the people to talk to. The knowledge they are willing to share would make definitely help make one grow in the industry, imagine if we get the chance to watch them work! Truly a great experience.
