HDR: Leaves in shower

By Michael Yip | March, 17, 2009 | 5 comments

HDR (High dynamic range imaging) isn’t something that I normally play with. Nevertheless, it’s still good to try and work something out.

Here’s 3 shots of the same photo, one shot normally and 2 through HDR (Processed from 9 images).

1. Normal Unprocessed Straight off the Cam Shot

2. HDR (Tone Compression) ver. 1

3. HDR (Tone Compression) ver. 2

4. HDR (Details Enhancing) ver. 3

There’s a long way to go but I guess there’s nothing to do but to read up more on HDR and go through some trial and errors.

Prefer the original, the dynamic range in the shot isn’t that big anyway it doesn’t justify HDR.

The first lesson is to identify subjects that require HDR because your camera can’t handle the dynamic range in the scene.

@ShaolinTiger: Noted, thanks for the tip. Just decided to try it out on something other than buildings and structures.
