Happy 20th Birthday Adobe Photoshop!

As a long time user of Adobe Photoshop from my college days til now. I want to say a HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADOBE PHOTOSHOP!

Here’s an interview with John Knolls, one of the founder developer of the Photoshop software designers and photographers so rely on in their work.

My first foray into using the Photoshop was back when it was still in version 3.0. That was also the time when I first encountered this CPU known as the Mac or the one I used, the PowerPC. It was all part of my studies where I had to learn how to use it along with Adobe Illustrator for my graphic design assignments. I never used it though for photography purposes back then as we had to do it the old fashion way using the Dark Room where we learn how to develop the photos. So in essence, my first experience with Photoshop was more to using it to tweak and design stuff that is used for posters and all. Apart from that, my knowledge with Photoshop when it comes to image/photo manipulation is as good as zero.

About 3 years ago, back then, I started using Photoshop again with the Adobe Photoshop CS2. With a more power core and with more tools than I remembered it having back in the college days, I had to relearn how to use this software again and boy, I didn’t know that it could do so many things when it comes to photo manipulation. This is the time also when I start shooting using an SLR (but in this case, it’s a dSLR where every images captured is in digital format) again. Playing with it and learning more about how to maximize it’s capabilities from friends, I start to enjoy using it again.

Now, the present age, the year is 2010, 20 years since it first came out, I’m using the Adobe Photoshop CS4 for Mac. Having just installed it, I have yet to fully go through the functions and capabilities that it has. I was told by some friends that the CS4 has even more goodies compared to the previous version I used and as it’s designers are fellow users as well. The layout of the software is even more intuitive to the needs and easy access of the designer. Since my 1st step into digital design until now, even though there are tons of other software out there that can do what I want to do. I still prefer to go back to the Photoshop to do my work. It’s more fun and I learn more and more things the longer I used it.

How about you? Which version of Photoshop did you start your journey on? Do share your experience using this amazing software.

Whoa.. Didn’t realize that Photoshop is that established..

I remember using Illustrator before Photoshop. I think I started using it during the late 90′s but that time, JASC Paint Shop Pro was quite popular as a contender then.

Anyway, am using CS4 for PC and love it, though, I will be considering a Mac soon…
