Free Apps and Games for iPhone

Now that iPhone finally came into Malaysia no thanks to the slow moving Maxis, users would be looking at all the applications that’s available for the device right? Now, unless your iPhone’s jailbroken, you’d have to practically pay anything from USD0.99 upwards for the games and apps. But have no fear, there are also some free ones that’s available for download into the phone.

Just want to share some of the ones I like and uses. You could also download these applications if you have the iPod Touch too. After all, these Apps are FREE!

Social Networking Apps

1. Facebook
Facebook has such a strong presence these days that just like Twitter, people wants to update it frequently and let people know what’s happening in their lives. What better way than to use the Facebook App on iPhone right?

2. TwitterFon
If you’re a Tweeter and can’t live without posting updates on Twitter, this is one app for you, simple interface and easy to use. Also have the ability to post photos into Twitter via the twitpic function. Very good if you want to share photos you took using your iPhone.

3. Fring
Aside from being connected to Facebook and Twitter, there’s one other thing you wouldn’t want to be disconnected from right? Especially when you have 3G. I’m talking about the messenger service. Fring provides a good simple platform to contain all your Messenger Accounts, from MSN to Skype to ICQ. One cool thing about the Skype function on Fring is you can do voice chats with it. There’s a slight delay so you’d have to keep each sentence short and simple but clarity wise, it’s good enough.

Games Apps

4. Virtual Pool Mobile Lite
I prefer this than the more popular Vegas Pool Sharks Lite as I find the interface works smoother. Simple to play and it isn’t laggy which I find happening on the VPSL.

5. Sol Free
If you like to spend countless hours in front of your computer playing with the Solitaire game in Windows, then you should be interested in this. I only play it when I’m really bored, it’s a simple Solitaire game. The game boasts 5 different versions of solitaire, all of which are very popular variants of the game. These 5 versions are Baker’s Game, Demon, Klondike (Deal 1), Klondike (Deal 3), and Spiderette. The game works just like any other solitaire game, except it takes advantage of the touch screen to move the cards around.

6. LIVE Poker
This one is for the Facebook Texas HoldEm Poker fanatics. Now you can also play it on the iPhone! It works just the same as you play on Facebook except that you can’t really choose your seats and I find the chatbox a tad useless. I normally had it off and just focus on the game. The buttons for the Fold, Check, Raise/Bet function is nicely display and can easily pressed so make sure you don’t accidentally press the wrong button. I have to pay for it today when instead of Fold, I went All In and now I’m broke (in the game).

7. Tap Tap Revenge and Tap Tap Revenge 2
Let your fingers dance in this game. Very nice game, very addictive and in TTR2, you can download new tracks when you get bored with the older ones. The best thing is, IT’s FREE! Check out the following video and you’ll know what I mean.

8. Bubble Lite
This is a nice game where you select a series of colored bubbles and gain as much points as you can by chaining them. I had a slight problem with this game though cause it’s hard for me to differentiate the tones of the yellow and the green. And no, you won’t find this problem unless you have color blind problem as well.

9. Tap Defense
Another game that kept me entertained for hours. If you like DoTA games, this is one game for you to try out. 3 Different Difficulty Levels and the latest update also boast 5 Challenge maps that will test your skills with limited warriors at your disposal.

10. RhinoBall
You know the movie Bolt? From it, came a cute little game titled RhinoBall. Your mission, if you choose to accept it is to race across the city in your cute little Hamster ball to provide assistant to Bolt! To maneuver, all you have to do is to tilt your iPhone forward to speed up, left and right to turn respectively and tilt back to brake/slow down. Keeps the kids entertained especially with the nice flash video inbetween each levels.

Well, that’s 10 applications to keep you entertained for the moment, for now, it’s just the Social Networking and Games list. I’ll update later on with some Productivity and Travel applications that I have. So do watch this space, subscribe to me or come back often to find the updates.
