Thanks to Johnnie Walker Malaysia, I got to not only head down to Singapore to party it up like a G6 at the Jet Black Party but also experience what it’s like to live in the life of the rich and famous, in this case, as an F1 driver. Here’s my little story… (I hope you got the time to read til the end and not get bored….)
We took off from KLIA on a chilly Friday morning but before we even step into the plane, Johnnie Walker presented us each with 2 beautiful gifts, 1st a beautiful bottle of Gold Label (as seen in this studio hi-key shot). Yes, I have my own studio so I’m able to do all this kinda nonsense of shooting whatever things I get my hands on when I’m not busy with shoots. Can you see that beautiful name engraved into the bottle? Yup! My name’s on it!
And also this Leather Jacket that is quite comfortable and beautifully designed. I have to say it’s beautifully designed cause it doesn’t make me look fat and because of my size, not many designs out there that’ll actually make me look ‘presentable’.
Upon touching down, we were driven to the Gallery Hotel where we got to stay in the Observatory Suite which I was told is 1 of the biggest suite they have available at that hotel. When I stepped in, I literally went “WHOAAA!” and here’s the kicker, you know how we have to always pay for whatever we ate from the mini fridge? Well, we were told to go ahead and raid the fridge as everything is paid for! DING DING DING! BONUS!
Soon after we settled in, we were told to get ready to have some tea before we again get on the road towards Jurong for some Go-Kart action! Alot of time when the Formula 1 gets into town, one of the places they’d visit is the Go-Kart circuit not because they want to have some fun but most of the time, an arrangement is made by their sponsors to allow winners of contests to race with them in a mini race. It felt just like that for me, stepping into Kartright Speedway as the last time I was there, it was during the Singapore F1 period where I got to go head-to-head with some F1 drivers who’s name I shall not mention here.
2 Guys, 5 Girls and a Go-Kart race, what more can we ask for?
After an intense battle (ok fine! I spend the entire time around the circuit lapping the girls and trying to nudge this young boy off the track for braking and slowing down at every turn), we head back to the hotel to freshen up as it’s time to head out for dinner and party the night away! The restaurant of choice? Stellar! located high up on the 62nd floor in the Financial district of Singapore overlooking the beautiful night sky of Singapore (I’ll blog about the food from there in another post). It’s the feeling of being on top of the world and the world is our oyster! Especially when the whole dinner experience was held in the company of these beautiful ladies.
From the dinner, we then head off to Filter Club where we end Friday night, by partying the night away among the rich and famous. Literally a place where you see guests driving up towards the vicinity of the club in their Ferraris and Lamborghinis.
The next day was more mild as we only need to be up and about by 12pm, understandable as we didn’t stop partying until the sun rises. As we gathered together at the Lobby of the hotel, we then made our way to Jumbo restaurant in Clarke Quay to savor in some of Singapore’s most famous chilli crab along with some other seafood dishes the restaurant has to offer.
After lunch, it was time for some serious shopping (for the girls) and loitering about for the guys before the Jet Black event. The best time to see a girl in their element? Drop them off at Orchard Road and you’d be having a hard time trying to keep up with them. Come 7pm, it was time to get ready for dinner at P.S. Cafe (review will be in another post) and off to Red Dot Museum for the Jet Black Party.
Partying it up at Jet Black was the highlight of our trip, just like I always said, it’s not where you party but who you party with that make the difference. You can be at the best venue in the world but if you don’t have the right group of people to party with, all you get is a dull boring event in a nice venue. True? That said, that’s where Johnnie Walker got it right, they invited the right group of people and these people come truly to party. Did I enjoyed myself that night? Let’s just say that I was disappointed when they told me it’s time to go…
Time flies when we are having fun and before I was done having fun, it was time to say bye bye Singapore and Hello Malaysia. We checked out of the hotel at noon and made our way to lunch before heading off to the Airport. I can say that this was the first time I felt sad leaving Singapore in the many trips I made to this little dot on the world wide map every month. The pampering I get in this trip, how will I ever feel the same when I make my next trip down knowing that I’ll end up just eating at the nearby Kopitiam and controlling myself not to take anything from the mini bar and mini fridges? That and all those chauffeured rides here and there instead of taking the MRT. Oh The Horror!
All in all, I had great fun on this trip with the handsome men and beautiful women that I traveled with, made new friends and those I’ve known before this, I got to know them better as friends and I lived the life of a Formula 1 driver (in a way) when we were in Singapore. Would I do it again? YES, will I get a chance to do it all again? I hope so (praying hard). Until that time present itself, I’m looking forward to the Black Circuit Lounge that’s happening in KL also organized by Johnnie Walker. So 9th of April, please get here soon.
For those of you who’s going, See You There! To those of you who’s going to be drinking, Never Drink and Drive. For those of you yet to get any invites, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
