Congratulations Barcelona

I must congratulate Barcelona on a game well played and a trophy well won. Deep down, from a die hard Manchester United fan, I truly congratulate them.

Watching the game with loads of fellow football fans and friends, Man Utd supporters, Barcelona supporters, we could clearly see who was the better side on the field from the 10th minute onwards. Barcelona played a better tactical game compared to Man Utd’s offensive. Their back four, the 3 midfield and 3 attacking force gelled very well in delivering the goods. Great passing by all the players posing numerous problems to Man Utd’s very bad defending.

I applaud Barca for the fantastic win. Man Utd’s back 4 wasn’t really switched on the whole night. Tons of defensive errors, it’s fortunate that they only manage to allow 2 goals in, by the first half, I was expecting more if Man Utd kept playing like that.

Ronaldo tried to prove too much that he’s better than Messi, that basically threw the whole game in Barcelona’s favor as his greedy possession and wanting to constantly try for the goal instead of passing to open team mates basically sums up what to expect from the attacking half of Man Utd. Yes, I am not afraid to admit that the club I supported wasn’t the better side, the players of the club wasn’t playing to their full potential. Why should I be shy to admit it? By knowing the mistakes, we learn from it. Right?

If Man Utd were to have came back from 2 goals down and win the tournament, that I will then say is very very lucky cause possession wise, play wise, finishing wise, clearly was in favor of Barcelona. The match was totally in control by Iniesta and Xavi, Puyol was a great captain, running up and down the field being at the most dangerous positions to cross the ball into the attackers. We can clearly see how they locked down on the key Man Utd players from the start of the game not allowing them to have a proper shot at goal. The beautiful attacking game that I love so much about Man Utd was barely in existence throughout the whole night!

Am I pissed that Man Utd didn’t win the tournament? Bloody Hell Yes! But I’m more pissed that they were playing like school kids chasing after a well prepared team. Clearly the younger Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, played the right tactical battle against an old master in the attacking game. Many managers will be looking back at this match in the future and learn from it.

Again, great win for Barcelona, Man Utd, it’s back to the drawing board for Man Utd for the coming season.

Thanks StrippedSteph, Alda Tan, Johann and Racheal Tan for hanging out with me til the wee hour of the morning to watch this match. Photos by GettyImages
