Eric Li Jazz Latino @ Alexis Ampang

Over the weekend, Eric Li Jazz Latino performed at Alexis Ampang for 2 nights. Fans of Latin Jazz, Funk, Salsa was in for a treat as the Best in the business went to town and gave us a fantastic 2 night show. With Steve Thornton on Percussion, Marco Antonio Alonso on guitar plus a bassist and a drummer (My bad for not able to recall their names at this moment but I’ll put their names in once it comes back to me), Eric Li pulled out all the stops and got us onto our feet to dance with some fantastic music.

Popular tunes from the likes of Chucho Valdes and Irakere, Michel Camilo, Paquito D’Rivera, Dizzy Gillespie and many more was part of their playlist over the two nights and listening to these tunes Live was totally unreal for me. So much so that the group I was with practically danced to every single songs they played ignoring all the eyes staring at us (mostlikely wondering what the heck we are doing blocking their view).

(the crazy dancers I went to the Jazz Latino with)

(Eric Li)

(Marco Antonio Alonso)

(Steve Thornton)

(Mr. Drummer that I’m still trying to figure out and recall his name)

(Mr. Bassist and I can’t remember his name as well)

From the food Alexis served to the music, it was a perfect night out listening to the wonderful Jazz performance. Can’t wait for them to perform next. Will update you readers once I find out where they’ll be performing next so do follow me on Twitter or Facebook or even come back every now and then to check on any updates.

Kitchen Creatures

I last went to Kitchen Creatures a few months back and ate the following, yes, it took me that long to finally post something up. Not because I’m lazy (not all the time…), just that I totally forgot about it until I was cleaning up the folders on my computer when I stumbled upon this and realized that I’ve not blogged about it yet.

It was a Tuesday when I invited Yana to join me for dinner before I set up for my so-called deejay session at Bernard’s for Salsa with initial plans to dine at Bernard’s but realized that the restaurant is not halal so we went over to Kitchen Creatures instead. The first thing we ordered was a Monster Glass of Coke for myself and a Limey George for her, which is a combination of Ribenna, Sprite and Lemon. Check out how big the Monster Glass is compared to the normal glass of Limey George. (more…)

Hooters Singapore

On one of my trips down to Singapore, I met up with some friends and decide to head over to Hooters for dinner. For those of you still living in the caves, yes, the infamous Hooters has a restaurant in Singapore! Now, here’s an interesting fact you might not know, Hooters Singapore is the company’s first overseas venture before they expand to the other parts of the world.

Hooters is a restaurant primarily made up of attractive waitresses so we will never see Hooters setting up shop in Malaysia, not in the near future (with the backward thinking of majority of the people in power and all those Holier-than-thou chaps that barks even at couples that stands too close to each other). Anyway, we were hungry, we weren’t sure what to eat in the Clarke Quay area even though there was a lot of restaurants around and so we (I think I just walked straight to Hooters while the rest was thinking) decided that Hooters is the place to go (more…)

Chicken Rice @ Mee Kai Kee

It was after a night of dancing on a Friday night when we decide to go for some good old Ngar Choi Kai (芽菜鸡) or Bean Sprout Chicken and one of the oldest establishment that we decide to head to is Mee Kai Kee, it opens only from dinner til late and one of those place where you know it won’t go wrong when hunting for a good plate of steamed chicken. Not only do this restuarant sell chicken rice, they also sell porridge and curry mee, another specialty of the restaurant is none other than the bean sprout chicken rice is the Silky-smooth koay teow (flat rice noodles) that’s served in a clear, sweet chicken broth.

What we ordered was a few bowls of porridge and kuey Teow soup but I opt for the chicken rice. I’m not really a rice person but I do like the oily rice they prepare for chicken rice. As there was 8 of us, we ordered a whole Steamed Chicken served in two plates so that we won’t fight. (more…)
