V The Visitors

Any of you remember this series titled V from the mid 80s? Grew up watching it. Even had a toy gun which looks just like the one in the series. Here’s a clip if you don’t know what I’m talking about or remember the series.

Here’s a low down on what the series is about. The Visitors are a fictional invading alien race from the V franchise. The “Visitors” are reptilian humanoids who disguise themselves to look human but prefer to eat live prey, such as mice. In the 1983 and 1984 miniseries, but not the 1984 TV series, the disguised Visitors can be told apart from humans by a reverberating echo in their voices. (more…)

Star Trek Movie Premier

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before! A phrase all Trekkie from around the world are familiar with.

Finally, after so many long years, they finally came out with another Star Trek movie. This time, it’s about the origin of Captain James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock. Of course, the time line is slightly off as this is supposedly the alternate timeline where James’ dad was killed, Spock’s Vulcan home was destroyed and yada yada yada. Ain’t going to spoil the movie for those of you who had not watched it yet. GO WATCH IT! Worth the time and money. (more…)

GI JOE: Rise of the Cobra Trailer

Who doesn’t remember the cartoon G.I. Joe? I grew up watching it on TV!

Here’s the opening intro from the cartoon to help you refresh your memories.

Looking at the way things normally go in the movie industry, with the release of the movie: GI JOE: Rise of the Cobra, they’ll be re-releasing the GI Joe cartoons again, maybe in a more updated animation/3D version to attract the current target audience.

Aside from the various comic/cartoon to Movie franchise, GI Joe’s one of the few that I’m looking forward to. Not sure if it’ll stay true to the cartoon and comic but here’s the teaser for you to judge for yourself. (more…)

Ambigram matters

Ambigram is a graphical figure that spells out one or more words not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. The text spelled out in the other direction or orientation is often the same, but can also be a different text. Douglas R. Hofstadter describes an ambigram as a “calligraphic design that manages to squeeze two different readings into the selfsame set of curves.”

A novel that display some beautiful ambigram work is Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. He stated also that Robert Langdon character was inspired by the creator of ambigrams, John Langdon. (Spoiler Alert! Highlight the space after this if you’re curious) You’ll see the Ambigram at work when the 4 cardinals and Camerlengo get branded. (more…)

BBC One’s Apparitions

Was recently introduced to the series APPARITIONS by Mrs. Gregory. Produced by BBC One, Apparitions stars Martin Shaw (Judge John Deed, George Gently), originally produced as a two-part special for transmission in early 2008. The series was being produced as a longer series and on air since late 2008.

The series is about Father Jacob (Martin Shaw), a priest working to promote candidates for sainthood who becomes drawn in to exorcism as he discovers a dark battle between good and evil. A battle that threatens the future of the human race itself. (more…)

Lost Season 5…

Any Lost fans here?

The countdown for LOST Season 5 have begun!

I guess the timing of this release is just nice with HEROES ended in December and Prison Break on a break.

The fifth season will commence on January 21, 2009 with a three-hour premiere consisting of a clip-show and two back-to-back new episodes. The remainder of the season will air on Wednesdays at 9:00PM Eastern/8:00PM Central. According to Lindelof, the season “is about why [the people who have left the island] need to get back”. Also, season five will feature significantly fewer flashbacks and flashforwards.

Check out the two fanmade trailers I found on youtube and while you are watching that, bookmark in your calendar for January 21st! Or rather in Malaysia, 22nd. For torrent users, we’ve something to download again!

MOVIE REVIEW: Bolt

Bolt the Super Dog! Woof Woof… It’s a story of a dog who is convinced that his role as a super dog is reality. When he is ripped from his world of fantasy, and action by his own doing. His own obsession with his owner and keeping her protected from the green eyed man of the television show he works on completely absorbs his life. This takes him to the point of no return when he believes that she has been kidnapped, and he accidentally gets packaged and shipped to New York city in pursuit of his owner.

This is when the story unfolds, and he goes through a transitional period where he learns that he is as super as every other dog. His disbelief of his abilities being non existent fuels a lot of different emotional changes, and eventually comes to a reality of who he really is. This all culminates when he finds his owner and reunites with her in the action packed climax of the movie. (more…)

MOVIE REVIEW: Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist

Just got back from the premier movie screening of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist  organized by Nuffnang Singapore. The screening was held at The Cathay and as it was a last minute decision, we basically rushed to the cinema to catch the movie with the rest of the Nuffnang Bloggers.

Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, originally a book by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, is now a movie. Nick (Michael Cera), the only straight band member of “The Jerk Offs” has recently been dumped by his hot girlfriend, Tris (Alexis Dziena). Nick believes that he can win her back by sending her special songs on CDs that he has mixed just for her. Nick has sent her about 10 CDs, but Tris only throws them in the trash.

However, Tris’ best friend, Norah (Kat Dennings), has retrieved most of them, and she loves them. Norah has never met Nick, but the music he loves touches her heart. Norah and her friend Caroline are at a nightclub where “The Jerk Offs” are playing, and Norah is attracted to Nick while he is playing his guitar. Tris shows up at the same club with her new boyfriend. Norah doesn’t want Tris to think that she is dateless, so she asks Nick to pretend to be her boyfriend for 5 minutes and gives him a big kiss. Then Tris tells Norah that Nick is her ex-boyfriend. Now that Norah has Nick, the heartless Tris decides that she now wants him back.

A night of searching for the band “Where’s Fluffy” ends up with one of these girls winning Nick’s love. (more…)
