Merry Guinness with MasterChef Australia Adam Liaw
GAB brought Christmas of 2011 early to us as a bunch of lucky us (150 invited guests including staff of GAB and chefs to be exact) got the chance to savor some delicacies prepared by Adam Liaw, the 2nd season winner of MasterChef Australia. What to expect? Incredible display of dishes infused with Guinness. 8 bold new yuletide Guinness-infused recipes was introduced by Adam that everyone can enjoy in participating outlets throughout December but for now, we got 1st dip! After a short introduction by Peter Khemlani, the marketing manager of Guinness Malaysia, Adam took to the stage to showcase some of the dishes, prepared LIVE in front of the 150 pax (but predominantly blocked by enthusiastic photographers wanting to stand near to him to snap photos of the food preparation.

“As a chef, flavor and taste are very important to me as they are the end result of a well prepared meal. These unique dishes were infused with the bold, distinctive and signature bittersweet taste of Guinness, which is a perfect ingredient to intensify flavors, enhance texture and just make good food taste great. I am glad that Guinness gave me this opportunity to create these special recipes for all my Malaysian fans this Christmas.” said MasterChef Adam Liaw. (more…)
Andes BYO @ Aman Suria
I’ve been to this restaurant quite a number of times but I’ve never really gotten about to sitting down and doing a proper review of the food. That was until January when Andrew invited his cousin and myself together for lunch and have a chit about the latest games and photography and what not. And since I was also heading out to do a shoot, I decide to shoot some photos at the restaurant and ate the following dishes.

Location wise, it’s not hard to miss the outlet even though the whole row is littered with restaurants, on the inside, it was quite cosy and aside from the lunch crowd, it’s mostly quiet. There’s quite a few places to sit and if you are there with a big group, there’s also the large table further in at the rear of the restaurants just beside the kitchen. Great when you want your food to fly out of the kitchen into your mouth. As we got ourselves settled in, we ordered the following… (more…)
Bavarian Bierhaus @ The Curve
Do you realize that there’s quite a number of German restaurants & Bars sprouting up within the Klang Valley over the years? One of the earlier ones I’ve known is the Bavarian Bierhaus located at The Curve, just behind TGIF and a stone throw away from Modesto’s. Have to name these two restaurants to give most people an idea where the restaurant is. The place is quite spacious with the Bar smack right in near the entrance for those who wish to smoke and sit by the bar.

Anyway, I was there with my family and after we got our seats and place our orders, we wait gleefully for the first dish to arrive, it was none other than the Pork Belly, beautiful Oven Roasted Crispy Pork Belly Served with hickory smoked BBQ gravy, red cabbage and pan friend potato. The skin was super crispy, just the way I love my pork and the fat just melts in my mouth so it was a heavenly start to our dinner. (more…)
New Beer Launch @ Weissbrau, Pavilion KL
For those of you who hits Pavilion KL on a regular basis, you would have come across this space on the 3rd floor of Pavilion with rows of restaurants waiting to attract you into their outlet. One of these place is the Weissbrau German Bar & Bistro which in my humble opinion, is a pretty nice place compared to the many other outlets there. I’m talking in term of their food and the types of beers they serve especially in the Bukit Bintang area.

About a month back, they brought in the Schneider Weisse, this beer is available only at Weissbrau in Malaysia and I got a chance to go sample the 3 different type of Schneider Weisse that they brought in. said to be one of the best german wheat beer around, it carries with it a distinct characteristic and unique flavor that is only produced from the Schneider Weisse brewery. But then, quite a lot of German beers in the market these days stands out because of their own distinct flavor anyway. (more…)
