Mid of last year (yes back in 2011), Mei dragged me along to a restaurant near my home, (cause i kept telling her that I never really ate in the Kota Damansara area) the key word she got me hooked on was PORK and BALINESE CUISINE and so off we went, the name of the restaurant was The UMA, located in The Strand facing the shop houses.
The interior of the restaurant is quite cozy with the Balinese feel that I remember when I went to Bali for holiday. From the tables to the decorations and even the menu with it’s touch of authenticity.
We settled down and proceed to place our orders while we catch up on the latest gossip that she is willing to share. The drinks of the night was Kopi Bali – Served Traditionally with Superfine Coffee Powder with drinking instructions provided. IT has that wonderful bitterness that just awaken us at the 1st sip. Truly a good cuppa coffee. Too bad there’s no Kopi Luwak though, guess it cost a lot to bring that over.
The first proper dish that is served is the Bebek Megoreng – Crispy Fried quarter Duck simmered in traditional Balinese Spice and deep fried. Served with saur rice and Balinese Side Dishes. We decide to order this and another dish and share but I was made to finish this dish as Mei wanted the other dish all to herself!
The one I’m talking about is Be celling Base Manis – Babi Kecap Manis, stewed pork meat in sweet indonesian keycap manis with a touch of chillies, served with white rice and Balinese side dishes. I managed to grab some and boy it’s fantastic. Definitely worth going back again for more, there’s a wide range of food to try.
