Salsa for Life!

Wednesday was quite memorable as we’ve a huge group of Salsa dancers from all over the Klang Valley coming together at Hush Bangsar to dance as well as donate to a good cause. Ticket sales, cupcakes as well as food from Hush went on sale to the patrons of the place as well as to the dancers in the hope of raising some money to help Amy Lazim who is fighting ovarian cancer (stage 4).

We even have kind souls coming out with their own precious posession to auction off to the dancers there in trying to encourage everyone to do a good deed. Among the things put up for auction is a semi accoustic guitar which was emaculately kept but was auctioned off to raise money for Amy. Further separate donations are encouraged and can be conveyed to Amy via Lin at +zero one two 318 1202.

Apart from just the social dancing, we also have a song performance by Datuk Arif, a bachata performance, a salsa performance as well as a Belly Dancing performance to entertain the crowd. Now what more can we ask for from just a Wednesday night out?

As for myself, I had a good time there hanging out with all the fellow dancers, catching up on things, bumping into old friends that I’ve not seen for some time but ended up meeting in a Social Dance night as well as meeting new people there.

The whole ‘Do’ started at 9.30pm and we ended the night at 1am as everyone had their fill of dancing and headed home to sleep. After all, Thursday is still a working day! In terms of money raised, all in all, more than RM5,000 was raised in the one night alone for Amy which is quite good consider the fact that the tickets and food was sold at a minimal amount as well as the auction starting off at a small amount for each item. I’m proud to be part of it at the end of the day because even through dancing, we could do some good. Definitely help in raising your karma points right?

One other surprise that night was, we also celebrated the birthday of a fellow salsa dancer as well as the one who helped started the Wednesday salsa night at Hush. It was a surprise to him too! Photos from the night can be viewed here.

One last night: Hush will be closed for a month for renovation from the 1st of September onwards so if you’re into hanging out regularly in that area, don’t be surprise to see the curtains drawn at Hush. They are not closed down but is going through renovations. For Salsa dancers, if you’re looking for a place to go dance, Wednesday night dance will continue at Aliyaa at Bukit Damansara. Drop me a comment and I’ll try to provide more details to the venue.
